Privacy Policy

What you record in CLEARSTILL is about your drinking. That is sensitive, and the app is built so that we never hold it. This page describes exactly what stays on your device, what leaves it, and what we can and cannot see.

The short version

What stays on your device

Everything you enter lives in a database on your iPhone: the days you log and their status, approximate drink counts, the trigger you picked, any note you wrote, morning check-ins, craving records, tonight plans, saved reasons, favourite recipes, earned Marks, your display name, your goal, and your weekly spend estimate.

If you are signed into iCloud, this database syncs through Apple's CloudKit to your own private iCloud account so it is available on your other devices. That storage belongs to you and is governed by Apple's privacy policy. We have no access to it, no key for it, and no ability to read it.

What leaves your device

Anonymous usage events

So that we can tell whether the app is useful and worth continuing, CLEARSTILL sends anonymous product events through TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service based in Germany. These say that something happened, never what you wrote.

The full list of events is: onboarding started and completed; a day logged as alcohol-free or as a drinking day; craving started, trigger selected, intervention completed; Drink Lab opened; recipe viewed and favourited; Mark earned and viewed; morning check-in completed; tonight plan created; paywall viewed; trial started; subscription started.

Some events carry a small amount of context: which craving trigger was chosen from the app's fixed list, whether a recipe was a paid one, and — when you log an alcohol-free day after a drinking day — how long it had been, as a rough bucket rather than a date. In the app's code, these parameters accept only counts and fixed values, so free text you typed cannot be sent even by mistake.

TelemetryDeck does not receive your name, email, IP-based location or Apple advertising identifier, and the events are not linked to your identity or used to track you across other apps or websites.

Purchases

If you subscribe to CLEARSTILL Plus, the purchase is processed by Apple and managed through RevenueCat, which tells the app whether your subscription is active. Apple does not share your payment details with us. RevenueCat receives an anonymous identifier and your subscription status, not your drinking history.

Content

The daily cards, craving interventions and recipes are downloaded from our content system. This is a one-way read: the app fetches published content and sends nothing about you back.

What we never collect

We do not collect your notes, your saved reasons, your name, your location, your contacts, your health data from Apple Health, or any identifier that could link your drinking history to you. There are no advertising SDKs in the app, and we do not sell or share data with data brokers.

Your control

Because usage events are anonymous and never linked to you, we cannot locate or delete an individual person's events — there is nothing that identifies which are yours.

Children

CLEARSTILL is intended for adults and is rated 17+. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect anything from them.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that affects what leaves your device, the app will say so before the change takes effect, and the date at the top of this page will be updated.
